5-star football recruit Jaiden Bryant flipped his commitment from LSU to Miami last week. That decision was believed by many to be money motivated.
Did the Hurricanes pay the pass rusher to end his recruitment? Bryant’s dad, Jesse, shut the narrative down.
He opened up on the commitment flip with a comment on YouTube. He insists that LSU put his son on the back burner. Bryant was not made a priority.
Who is Jaiden Bryant?
The defensive end is considered the top player in the state of South Carolina for the 2027 recruiting cycle. He had previously been committed to LSU.
Tigers defensive line coach Sterling Lucas played a large role. The former Gamecock assistant built a relationship with the Irmo High School football star while in Columbia.
Bryant pulled the trigger on his commitment in January, soon after Lucas moved onto Baton Rouge. The defender changed his mind in June.
Bryant visited Coral Gables last weekend. He confirmed that his recruitment was down to Miami and LSU. A few days later, he flipped the script.
Jaiden Bryant pledged to Miami on June 3rd. It ended his sixth-month commitment to LSU. The edge rusher subsequently shut his recruitment down upon making the announcement.
Was it money motivated?
Bryant’s father, Jesse, says no. Instead, he suggests the Tigers backed off while recruiting other players at the position.
Jesse Bryant commented on the following YouTube video, which insinuated that NIL was driving his decision making.
“Hey bro report what you know. My son didn’t troll,” Bryant said. “We didn’t know we was gonna flip. Talks fell through with LSU. We wasn’t a priority to them so we went to where we were. Get out your feelings, you too old for that.”
LSU continued to recruit five-star prospects at defensive end despite having Bryant in the boat. That apparently rubbed the family the wrong way.
Top prospect Abraham Sesay was on campus last week. KJ Green was in Baton Rouge this weekend and committed to the Tigers on Sunday. He will replace Jaiden Bryant in the recruiting class.
Bryant’s dad insists the move wasn’t not influenced by money. He is not bag chasing. He is looking for a place he’s valued.
LSU was not that school, according to the family. Bryant will instead join Miami. We’ll see if any more drama follows the recruitment in the months to come.
