Jake Paul is admitting that he made a huge mistake fighting Anthony Joshua.
Last December, Paul faced off against Joshua and got his jaw severely broken in several places.
While speaking with Uncrowned’s Ariel Helwani, Paul lamented that his boxing career could be over due to the injury.
“It does feel a lot better as weeks go by and time goes by. But I definitely need to get cleared first to be able to spar but I am sort of staying in shape. I’m always in the gym pretty much regardless. Just staying in shape and enjoying some mitt work.”
“Most definitely [a chance I can’t fight again],” Paul said. “I think it just depends on how the bone heals and then also there’s a tooth missing here that I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to get an implanted tooth of some sort. I don’t know how much time that’s going to add to things. But we just have to see and figure out what the smartest thing is for me.”
On Wednesday, Paul spoke with Pat McAfee and revealed that he is planning a comeback, but won’t be fighting someone of Joshua’s caliber again.
“It heals back stronger,” Paul said of his jaw. “I probably won’t fight Olympic gold medallist heavyweights anymore. That’s smart, right? I learned my lesson.
“But if the paycheck is big enough I’ll fight anybody,” Paul joked. “I’ll break it again.”
