Wherever football goes in Nashville, Jeff Fisher seems to follow. It was announced that the 65-year-old will return to the game in Music City next spring.

Fisher will serve as a senior advisor for the Nashville Kats when the Arena Football League relaunches in 2024. He said that he is excited to get involved with the new opportunity, though history wonders how long it will last.

I have always been a big fan of Arena Football, especially the Nashville Kats when they played here. It is so entertaining with so many talented players and coaches. And in that setting, the fans become so much a part of not only the game, but the overall experience.

The original AFL played its first season in 1987. It lasted 22 years and went bankrupt in 2008.

Two years later, the league returned. It lasted 10 years, through the 2019 season.

The Arena Football League has been dormant over the last four years.

Jeff Fisher will be part of the relaunch!

Jeff Fisher is SO back.

This is Fisher’s third time getting involved with a football team in Nashville.

He was named head coach of the Houston Oilers in 1995 before the organization moved to Music City and became the Titans. His tenure lasted through 2010. It included a trip to the Super Bowl in 1999.

Eddie George played all but one year in the NFL under Fisher. When the latter was named head coach at Tennessee State in 2021, he hired the latter as an advisor.

This is Fisher’s third different job in Nashville, with a team that previously existed from 1997 to 2001 and 2005 to 2007. The Kats made the playoffs every single season during their first stint and played in the Arena Bowl in 2000 and 2001. They did not win more than eight games during their second run and made the playoffs just one time.

Both Fisher and the Kats will hope that the third time is a charm!

The 2024 Arena Football League season is set to begin on April 27. Nashville will play its home games at Municipal Auditorium.
