Louisville Basketball Coach Vows To Drink Vodka Until The Film Looks Blurry After Angry Meltdown

Louisville narrowly escaped a second round exit during the ACC women’s basketball tournament on Thursday. Head coach Jeff Walz was not happy with the Cardinals’ performance.

Despite his frustrations, his team will play again on Friday.

No. 5-seed Louisville beat No. 13-seed Boston College 58-55 to set up a quarterfinals bout against No. 4-seed Notre Dame. Walz is not quite there yet. He is going to do some drinking first.

When asked about the Cardinals’ next game and what he thinks of the opponent, Walz said that his immediate focus was on getting to the bar. Vodka was the first priority.

I haven’t even really thought about tomorrow’s game. I’m going to go to the bar first and have some Tito’s and tonic and a few other things…

Hopefully it will make this game look a lot better when I watch it on film, blurry possibly.

— Jeff Walz

This level of candidness is not new for the 17-year coaching veteran. Walz is one of the biggest personalities in women’s college basketball and does not shy away from speaking his mind.

That was abundantly clear during his postgame press conference, as well as during the final 15 seconds of the game. He completely melted down on an Atlantic Coast Conference official. It was a ruthless tirade.

The referee somehow did not issue Jeff Walz a technical foul for getting right up in his face.

His frustrations stemmed from an intentional foul call on Boston College. Rather, a lack thereof.

The Eagles were called for an off-ball foul, that should have been deemed intentional. It was not. Walz was furious.

He gave the official a piece of his mind, and some. Spit was probably flying everywhere as Walz came within six inches of making face-to-face contact.

Between the frustrating no-call and his team’s poor performance, he was irate.

As a result, Tito’s was the first thing on his mind when the clock hit zero. Tomorrow is a new day and there is still plenty of scouting to be done for Notre Dame but there is some liquor to be consumed first!
