Jerry Rice is one of the best wide receivers in football history, and his son Brenden might be even bigger and faster. But despite his raw athleticism and talent, he doesn’t talk trash.

Brenden, who was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020, committed to Colorado out of high school. After catching 27 passes for 419 yards and five touchdowns in two years with the Buffaloes, he decided to transfer to USC after Lincoln Riley took the job in Los Angeles.

While his numbers may not jump out off of the page, Brenden is incredibly talented and was severely underutilized in Boulder. He hopes that will chance now that he’s with the Trojans.

Whether he takes the next step with USC and blossoms into a superstar or not, you won’t catch him talking smack. Brenden takes a different approach to silencing the haters. He just balls.

Early in 2021, USC backup quarterback Mo Hasan started the ‘MOmentum Truck Podcast’ out of the back of a moving truck. He was the first to start an active college football podcast, meaning that he is still playing while hosting, and has on a different guest every week. Many of them are current or former USC athletes.

Brenden Rice joined Hasan in the MOmentum Truck last month and talked about his move to LA, the best state for high school football, and superheroes.

During the discussion on a wide range of topics, Brenden spoke about what it was like growing up as the son of an NFL Hall of Famer. Specifically, he explained that over the course of his football career, he has heard every joke or dig about his dad imaginable.

Rather than getting up to the line of scrimmage and responding to the trash talking defensive backs, Brenden stays quiet. He explained that people expect him to be the loud, cocky player, so he stays quiet and stays humble.

In turn, he believes that the silence speaks louder than words when he is balling out. And when an opponent is talking trash, the response is simple— just score a touchdown.
