Even the most diehard of New York Jets fans are finished with the Zach Wilson experiment.

Despite the fact that it’s only three games into the 2023 season, superfans such as “Fireman” Ed Anzalone want to see the 24-year-old signal-caller either traded or cut from the team.

“Joe Douglas and coach [Robert] Saleh, you’s did everything you could. It’s time to move on. You owe it to the locker room to move on. You go with Tim Boyle as the backup and you go sign a veteran. [Wilson] is done. It’s the third year, and there’s nothing,” he told Fox News this week following the Jets 15-10 loss to the New England Patriots.

Fireman Ed said something similar in the immediate aftermath of the game.

The atmosphere at MetLife Stadium on Sunday is sure to be a fascinating one, as it’ll be the first time that the Jets play in a Sunday Night Football branded matchup since the 2012 season. There are also reports that Taylor Swift is going to be in attendance, which will surely only add further fuel to the occasion.

While the Jets did sign a quarterback this week, it’s certainly not one that will get the fan base excited, as they brought in veteran journeyman backup Trevor Siemian, who has just one season as a starter under his belt. Still, an argument could be made that virtually anyone would be better than Wilson right now.

To his credit, Wilson has certainly displayed a better attitude this season, which he showcased this week when responding to Joe Namath calling for him to be traded.

Regardless, though, this is a team that’s now in their third year of Zach Wilson when they thought they’d be in their first year of Aaron Rodgers, which reportedly has the locker room on the verge of imploding.
