Aaron Rodgers Won’t Be Enough To Save Robert Saleh’s Job Is Dysfunction Continues

While the common consensus in the NFL community has seemingly been that the Jets coaching staff will get another shot next season given the injury to Aaron Rodgers, the tides in New York may be turning due to all the recent dysfunction.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Dan Graziano, the Jets “might be a sneaky spot to watch for a potential coaching change” at the end of the season.

Previous reports had indicated that Rodgers was protecting the jobs of head coach Robert Saleh, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, and general manager Joe Douglas.

However, the Jets have turned into such an inept mess in recent weeks that Graziano says he wouldn’t “be surprised to hear some rumblings around those situations if the Jets continue to free-fall and end the season with four or five wins.”

“Multiple sources have pointed out to me in recent days that Jets owner Woody Johnson was still away serving as ambassador to the United Kingdom when his brother Christopher oversaw the hiring of Saleh, and that Woody could have other ideas if things turn very ugly,” Graziano reported.

“The offense has been an abject disaster without Rodgers. Would he go to the mat to save the job of his preferred offensive coordinator in Hackett, if ownership insisted on coaching changes? It’s a question at least worth keeping in mind.”

With five games left to play this season, the Jets have matchups against the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and New England Patriots remaining on their schedule. Given the offense’s inability to score points, they’ll likely be underdogs in all of those games.

This weekend, the Jets will be hosting the Houston Texans who, unlike Gang Green, were able to find a franchise quarterback with their #2 overall draft pick in CJ Stroud.
