With each passing day, it feels increasingly likely that future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers is going to be traded to the New York Jets. Either that, or he’s going to retire and break Jets fans’ hearts, which is certainly a distinct possibility.

Even Jets players seem to be buying into the hype, as their trio of stand-out rookies — Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and Breece Hall — recently shared a video of them burning the iconic Green Bay Packers cheesehead as a “pitch” to Rodgers.

According to reports from various NFL insiders, Jets execs — including owner Woody Johnson, general manager Joe Douglas, head coach Robert Saleh, and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett — met with Rodgers in California earlier this week and reportedly came away from the meeting feeling optimistic about their chances of landing the four-time MVP.

Despite their apparent optimism — and reports that they’ve already worked out compensation with the Green Bay Packers — Rodgers has still yet to give any indication of what his plans are for next season. If they do decide to trade for Rodgers, reports seem to indicate that it will cost the Jets a first-round pick and then “possibly another pick if Rodgers plays again next season.”

You can watch Gardner’s full vlog below:

Rodgers is coming off one of the worst seasons of his career, as the Packers missed the playoffs and he completed 64% of his passes for 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

Still, even at close to 40 years old, Rodgers would likely be the best QB to ever play for the Jets and would surely make them contenders in the AFC given their talent elsewhere on the roster.
