The New York Jets have officially made a quarterback change after Zach Wilson has mightily struggled throughout the season. Although the team has a winning record, Robert Saleh felt it was necessary the switch. Now, the second-year quarterback finally addresses his situation.

According to the Jets’ social team, Wilson went about the benching with his head held high. The young quarterback claims, “this is going to be a good opportunity, a humbling opportunity, for me to put my head down and work harder.”

That’s the exact attitude he needs to have. The Jets quarterback hasn’t been at his best by any means. Not only is he struggling in games, but his off-the-field actions have shown a lack of leadership. Also, there are the reported “yips” he’s dealing with as well. So, riding the pine is probably the best thing for Zach Wilson right now.

It’s believed New York isn’t fully giving up on their young quarterback. Head coach Robert Saleh allegedly didn’t want to lose the entire locker room over one player. So a change had to be made.

With the Jets in the middle of the playoff hunt, making a change at quarterback was completely necessary. Hopefully, Wilson maintains an open mind and truly puts in the work to improve. If not, well, then the front office might be searching for his replacement in the offseason.
