Jim Harbaugh has made a decision on his future. The head coach plans to remain at Michigan after leading the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff for a second straight season.

This offseason, Harbaugh’s name had been mentioned in connection to NFL openings. The Broncos were reportedly making a heavy push after firing Nathaniel Hackett in 2022.

He interviewed virtually with Denver’s front office last week, but now, he’s removed his name from consideration. The coach says he’s happy in Ann Arbor and plans to stay with the program.

Michigan president Santa Ono posted a message on social media to tell fans of the news.

I just got off the phone with Coach Harbaugh and Jim shared with me the great news that he is going to remain as the Head Coach of the Michigan Wolverines. That is fantastic news that I have communicated to our Athletic Director Warde Manuel.

Jim Harbaugh then followed the announcement up with a statement of his own. He says that he loves the relationships he’s built and that his “heart is at the university.”

Michigan fans have been quick to comment on the breaking news. Their hopes of a national championship remain following their head coach’s decision.

Former Wolverine Taylor Lewan posted, “The Michigan haters are sick right now. The legend Jim Harbaugh is staying.”

Others saw this announcement coming as he’ll bring back a stacked roster in Ann Arbor. Andrew Perloff said, “Jim Harbaugh will never have a better chance to win a title. Corum and McCarthy coming back. Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State lose their QBs. He’d be crazy to leave before this season.”

With the news, the Broncos will likely turn their focus to former Saints head coach Sean Payton. Michigan fans can take a collective sigh of relief. That is until the NFL comes calling again next offseason.
