Jim Harbaugh was in his element on the Michigan Wolverines‘ annual offseason team trip. The history buff is taking his guys on a number of notable visits as a way of both educating and building camaraderie.

In what’s a Clark Griswald-esque list of stops, players will get to see Gettysburg, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the nation’s capital, and more.

The team announced its intended route in a press release and has since updated a blog with photos and descriptions of each stop. The trip began on April 28th in the Big Apple.

While there, they dropped in to see the Statue of Liberty, the Stock Exchange, and Times Square, which lit up maize and blue while the Wolverines were in town. They’d stay in NYC one day longer before moving on to Washington DC for Day 3 of the tour.

The African American History Museum and Intenational Spy Museum were next on the trek, before seeing the US Capitol Building and taking in a Nationals’ baseball game.

On the final day in the capital, Michigan players saw the Arlington National Cemetary as well as a number of monumental sites.

Taking a page right out of Remember the Titans, the most recent stop took place at Gettysburg. Jim Harbaugh and his team were spotted taking in the sights at the location of America’s bloodiest battle.

Fans were quick to comment on that most recent stopping point, singling out Coach Harbaugh.

One person wrote, “Nobody is more in his element than Jim Harbaugh on a field, whether it be a field of play or a field of battle.”

Someone else said, “Jim Harbaugh going full history channel dad on a trip is the most Michigan thing he’s ever done.”

This follower replied, “I think this is the happiest I have ever seen Jim Harbaugh,” after seeing the photo.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen Harbaugh going full “dad mode” on a vacation. His daughter, Grace, has posted plenty of footage of her father enjoying himself in the most cliche way possible on family trips.

“Excursion Jim” may be my favorite version of Harbaugh.

The head coach is a known history buff, taking his team on these week-long trips annually. He certainly seems to be enjoying this year’s adventures.

Hopefully, this helps bring his Michigan group together as they look for a third straight College Football Playoff appearance.
