If you have any ties with Ohio State you can’t say nice things about anyone or anything at Michigan, it’s actually a law in The Buckeye State. Former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel’s latest comments about Jim Harbaugh prove that point.

Tressel has earned the right to talk down to Michigan seeing as how he was 9-1 overall against the Wolverines during his time at OSU. Nevertheless, even on Ohio State-Michigan standards, his words about Harbaugh are harsh.

The 69-year-old recently joined the ‘1 Star Recruits’ podcast and was asked to rate Harbaugh’s tenure in Ann Arbor on a scale of one to five stars.

Tressel sugar-coated things a bit by saying he couldn’t give a true rating because he doesn’t know the relationships Harbaugh has built with his players, which is what he says truly matters. This gave him the green light to lay into Harbaugh as an actual coach based on his record.

“Because of his lack of winning in The Game and lack of winning in the postseason, that makes it tougher to have a win-loss legacy,” Tressel explained, per 247 Sports. “I really don’t know what his legacy is with his student-athletes and what the relationships are and so forth. And that’s the ones that last the longest anyway.”

“The public is going to assess – as they should – the win-loss records…So, I guess I’ve got to give him a 1 star on the win-loss thing.”

Talk about brutal.

Harbaugh finally got his first win over Ohio State this past season and helped lead the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff. He undoubtedly lived up to any expectations this past year, but the consistency has been lacking.
