Jimmy Butler is going to release a country music album. Yes, the six-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler.

If you have not heard by now, he loves country music. It actually started with an attempt to annoy his teammates in the locker room but quickly (and surprisingly?) blossomed into a full-blown passion for the genre. Luke Combs is one of his favorites!

Not long after discovering his appreciation for country music, Butler started to hang out with some of the biggest country artists in the world. He was even featured in a Luke Bryan music video back in 2017:

Now, in his fifth year with the Miami Heat, Butler has a very unique project in the works.

The 34-year-old small forward is about to become the D.J. Khaled of country music. He has helped to write and produce more than 60 songs and is slated to drop an album at some point in the (relatively) near future. Butler does not sing on any of the tracks his work is done behind-the-scenes.

Jimmy Butler is currently in the process of making a country album… 😂 He won’t be singing on the project, but rather being more of a “DJ Khaled” in the creating of it. Butler said in an interview he already has 60 songs recorded, and he’d like to get that number up to 200 before he’s done. He’s a pretty avid country listener, but it all started with a joke he was making with his teammates a couple years back. Pretty cool though he may have a career lined up for him after basketball. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if it’s any good. But would you listen to it? #NBA #jimmybutler #nbanews #nbabasketball

Considering his singing voice, that’s probably for the best.

Very little information about the album has been provided to this point. However, we now know that Butler has been in the studio with Breland— who is one of the most creative songwriters in the industry and has the best raw vocals in Nashville.

He posted a teaser of his new song for the album, which carries a very catchy melody somewhere between ‘Atlantic City’ by The Band and ‘Die a Happy Man’ by Thomas Rhett.

If this is the first taste of what is to come, we are in for a treat! Jimmy Butler is well-connected in the country music space. And to get Breland on a track is an indication that he knows what he’s doing!
