In what has become one of the NFL’s most exciting rivalries, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs have been trading blows both on and off the field over the past two seasons.

The latest chapter in this saga unfolded during the offseason, as the players engaged in a war of words, further intensifying the rivalry and adding fuel to the fire.

It all began innocently enough when Bengals’ quarterback Joe Burrow publicly praised Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes, hailing him as the top quarterback in the league.

Bengals’ receiver Ja’Marr Chase then went on to declared his own quarterback as the best in the league and said, “Pat who?” upon learning about Burrow’s answer about Mahomes. While Chase probably intended it to be tongue-in-cheek, Mahomes and the Chiefs took offense to the remark.

In response, Mahomes took to social media after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl ring ceremony, posting a picture of himself proudly wearing his two Super Bowl rings with a simple caption that read, “That’s who.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce issued a warning to Chase, urging him to back up his words: “If you want to talk your s—, talk your s—, pimp. Just better back it up.”

In an interview with Kameron Hay of Complex Sports, published on Monday, Joe Burrow swiftly put an end to the ongoing trash talk and shifted the focus back to the field. “The best thing about that is it’s all settled on the field. So, we’ll see them in December,” Burrow confidently stated.

The Bengals are scheduled to face off against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on New Year’s Eve, setting the stage for a highly anticipated showdown.

In the past two seasons, the Bengals have proven to be a formidable opponent for the Chiefs, boasting a 3-1 record against them and splitting the AFC Championship Games. However, it was the Chiefs who ultimately emerged victorious, clinching a Super Bowl title while the Bengals fell short against the Rams in their own Super Bowl appearance.

Burrow remains optimistic about his team’s prospects, expressing confidence in their ability to continue their success. “Keep doing exactly what we’re doing,” Burrow emphasized. “I think we’ve put a great plan together the last couple of years. Now, we just have to finish it off.”

The Bengals’ quarterback emphasized the importance of focusing on the present and taking it one day at a time.
