Former Browns OL Joe Thomas Looks Absolutely Unrecognizable As A Svelte Participant On ‘The Titan Games’

As a Cleveland Browns fan, when I hear the name Joe Thomas, I think of consistency; because the former offensive lineman consistently mauled opposing defenders who dare attempt to sack his quarterback. During Thomas’ 11 seasons in the NFL (all with the Browns), he was named a First-Team All-Pro seven times, and was selected to 10 Pro Bowls, meaning the former No. 3 overall pick is all but a lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in a few years.

While Joe Thomas is best known for protecting the blindside of the rotating signal-callers in Cleveland for all those years, since he retired following the 2017 season, the dude has gone through quite the transformation. Anyone who has seen Thomas as an analyst on the NFL Network can attest to the physical difference ol’ dude has made — and it was highlighted even more so on a recent appearance on The Titan Games, where the former O-lineman participated.

After playing at about 312 pounds for the bulk of his NFL days, Thomas is a mean, lean fighting machine these days, ditching the hamburgers and french fries for salads and lean protein. Just look at how unrecognizable he was on The Titan Games to see for yourself.

As for those who might have forgotten about how Joe Thomas used to look while playing for the Browns during all those years, here’s a reminder.

Naturally, after seeing Thomas’ appearance on the TV show, in which he dominated, people on Twitter just about lost their minds.

It’s actually remarkable how Joe Thomas could go from a burly, 6’6″ offensive lineman to a leaned out athlete like he did. We’ve seen this before with other pro athletes — most notably Alan Faneca, who did something similar to Thomas by shedding tons of extra pounds to get toned and run marathons — but Thomas looks even more muscular and less skinny than Faneca did after his reveal a few years back. Regardless, kudos to both men for turning their bodies around, because that’s seriously tough AF to do.

Just when you thought all pro athletes just gained a bunch of weight after playing sports — like we’ve seen with guys like Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley in the NBA — Joe Thomas is out here proving that that perception isn’t always right. Going from what he looked like with the Browns to what he looked like on The Titan Games sure took a shit ton of hard work.
