UFC Chamption Jon Jones has been named a suspect in a hit-and-run incident with a pregnant woman in Albuquerque, New Mexico, according to a report from ABC11 in Albuquerque
Albuquerque PD spokesman Simon Drobik said Jones is facing a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge related to a car accident that sent a twenty-year-old pregnant woman to the hospital with “non life-threatening injuries.” He would be liable for damages to the vehicles involved and medical costs of the pregnant woman.
“The case has progressed and he is now our suspect in the the hit and run that happened earlier this morning involving a pregnant female,” Drobik said. “We are now definitely looking at him as a suspect.”
The 27-year-old light heavyweight champion made headlines in January for failing a drug test for cocaine prior to his UFC 182 title fight against Daniel Cormier. Jones was fined $25,000 on Jan. 17 for violating the UFC’s Athlete Code of Conduct policy for the positive test result.
If Jones was indeed involved in a hit-and-run accident his UFC 187 bout with Anthony Johnson on May 23rd will be in jeopardy and Jones will likely face a lengthy suspension from the UFC.
