Jordan Spieth’s weekend in Los Angeles didn’t go according to plan. The golfer was disqualified from play after his second round of the Genesis Invitational due to a miscount on his scorecard.
He brought that unfortunate incident back to light on Sunday in a congratulatory post to winner Hideki Matsuyama.
Matsuyama dominated the field in his final round, shooting a 62 at the Riviera Country Club. That’s the lowest final round total in the history of the tournament.

Matsuyama was on an absolute heater on Sunday, overcoming a six-shot deficit to emerge victorious. Over that magical 18 holes of play, the golfer made nine birdies and nine pars.
He even nearly had an ace!

When all was said and done, Matsuyama (-17) finished three strokes ahead of second-place Luke List and Will Zalatoris (-14). It marked his first win on Tour this season.
Fellow Genesis Invitational competitor Jordan Spieth sent his congratulations shortly thereafter.

Spieth took a not-so-subtle jab at himself in that post given his disqualification from a few days prior.
The DQ came when Spieth signed the incorrect scorecard. He accidentally recorded a score of par on his fourth hole of the day when, in fact, he’d made a bogey.
He didn’t want the same to happen to Hideki Matsuyama after his record-setting day!
Spieth offered his friend advice on a few different levels with that congratulatory post. First, always check to make sure the score is correct. Second, never take yourself too seriously!
