All Hell Breaks Loose In Triple-A Bench-Clearing Brawl After Pitcher Goes Headhunting

The benches were totally emptied on Monday night after New Orleans Zephyrs’ pitcher Jose Urena sent a pitch sailing directly past Jeremy Hazelbaker’s face, something the outfielder didn’t take too kindly to at all.

After charging the mound and taking a swing from Urena, Hazelbaker’s Memphis Redbirds teammates were quick to come to his aid, and all hell broke loose as a brawl erupted on the first base line.

“Let’s keep this down to dancing…” Yeah, that didn’t happen.

Here’s the wild scene captured by a fan that was in attendance at the game.

Three players from each team were ejected after the tussle, and I don’t think any explanation is needed there.

Gotta side with Hazelbaker defending his honor here, too. Can’t just let a pitcher throw heat that close to your dome and get away with it.
