The Bills had plenty of reasons to be frustrated during their 25-20 loss to the Jaguars in Week 5, and Stefon Diggs made it very clear he wasn’t happy when he was filmed slamming a tablet in anger on the sidelines. Plenty of NFL fans used that clip to convince themselves there might be some internal turmoil brewing in Buffalo, but that’s not the case based on what Josh Allen had to say.

Diggs will always have a special place in the hearts of Vikings fans thanks to his role in the play known as the “Minneapolis Miracle,” but his final season in Minnesota was a tumultuous one that led to a fairly messy breakup that was finalized when he was traded to the Bills in 2020.

Over the past few years, the wide receiver has established some pretty solid chemistry with Buffalo’s franchise quarterback. However, he and Allen did have a pretty heated exchange on the sideline during their playoff loss to the Bengals last season, and the summer was filled with rumors that suggested Diggs was angling for an exit thanks to his displeasure with his role in the Bills offense.

As a result, it wasn’t a huge stretch to assume he took his anger out on an innocent Microsoft Surface tablet because he felt he’d been overlooked on the play that sparked his outburst on Sunday.

However, Allen disputed that notion while addressing the video on Wednesday, asserting Digs was “mad at himself” after taking a second look at a play where the QB said the WR failed to run the proper route.

That explanation makes a lot of sense when you consider what Diggs has achieved over the course of the first five games of the season; he’s racked up 520 yards, 39 receptions, and five touchdowns in that span and is firmly on pace to match or surpass the numbers he put up in all of those categories last season.

He’s probably less than thrilled that the Bills are currently sporting a 3-2 record, but it seems like anyone who saw that video and assumed it was indicative of some juicy drama in the Buffalo locker room probably jumped the gun.
