Entering the league in 2012, Josh Gordon became an immediate NFL sensation. The pass catcher totaled nearly 2,500 receiving yards over his first two professional seasons, leading all wideouts in 2013. Unfortunately, his love for marijuana stunted what could’ve been an incredible career.

Fast forward to 2023, and Ohio, the state in which he began that playing career, legalized for recreational use. Josh Gordon had a hilarious response to seeing the weed bill pass.

The Buckeye State became the nation’s 24th state to approve marijuana for non-medical use on Tuesday. Interestingly enough, Michigan’s Connor Stalions inadvertently helped push that campaign as cannabis crusaders played on the UM-OSU rivalry.

The move presented a stark change to what had been seen in Gordon’s playing days with the Cleveland Browns.

The NFL, too, had a strict substance abuse policy at the time, which the wideout failed to adhere to. Following those first two breakout seasons, he played in just 10 games over the next four years as he served out suspensions for his marijuana use.

The league has since eased up that strict policy, deciding in 2021 to test just once per year for cannabis.

Players will be tested for THC once training camps open in August. However, the new CBA has also raised the threshold for a positive marijuana test from 35 nanograms to 150 and eliminates suspensions for positive drug tests.

Two years later, Ohio let off its previously stern laws.

“Damn, just now Ohio wanna act right,” the wide receiver wrote.

Gordon last played in the NFL in 2022, suiting up for the Tennessee Titans. He’s currently a member of the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL.
