Arizona Cardinals defensive back Josh Shaw has been suspended by the National Football League for allegedly betting on NFL games, according to reports.
In a statement released on Friday, November 29, the NFL announced that the 27-year-old Shaw would be suspended “at least through the conclusion of the 2020” season for betting on games that occurred this season.
Josh, a 27-year-old cornerback who played college football at the University of Southern California, was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
On March 18, 2019, Shaw signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals, however, he was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury during the preseason on August 25 and has yet to appear in a regular-season game for the team.

“The continued success of the NFL depends directly on each of us doing everything necessary to safeguard the integrity of the game and the reputations of all who participate in the league,” the statement from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reads.
“At the core of this responsibility is the longstanding principle that betting on NFL games, or on any element of a game, puts at risk the integrity of the game, damages public confidence in the NFL, and is forbidding under all circumstances. If you work in the NFL in any capacity, you may not bet on NFL football.”
Last year, then Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt was suspended for eight games for shoving and kicking a woman. Shaw’s suspension is “at least” twice as long.
