Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis was taken to the hospital after a medical emergency in the team’s football facility on Wednesday. He is currently in recovery.

His father released a statement on the situation through social media on Thursday morning.

In his message, he thanked the medical team, teammates, and fans. Details of the emergency remain unclear.

Julian Lewis transported to hospital.

Lewis is in his second season with the Buffs. He began the year as the starter, picking up a season opening win over Georgia Tech.

He has not played since Game 4 against Baylor and was listed as “doubtful” on the team’s most recent injury report ahead of a matchup with Kansas State.

That report was released on Wednesday. It is unclear if it came prior to the medical emergency.

Lewis was benched in his fourth game. He has not been on the field in the last month, though that absence was not injury related.

Deion Sanders provided an update on his future in a recent press conference. The head coach has not yet commented on the current situation publicly.

Lewis was a four-star recruit out of Carrollton (Atlanta) in the 2025 class. He signed with the Buffs after initially committing to USC.

There were whispers of a potential transfer in the offseason. He reportedly gauged interest in Georgia Tech, offering a potential return home before his sophomore season. Ultimately, he stayed put in Boulder.

Over two seasons, he’s thrown for 1,322 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. The Buffs have gone 2-2 across his four starts this year. They are 0-3 without him on the field.

We will continue to update this page as new information arises on Julian Lewis’s medical emergency. Prayers for a quick and full recovery go out to the quarterback and his family.
