Deion Sanders suggests Julian Lewis has quit on the Colorado football team.

Deion Sanders was asked about quarterback Julian Lewis’s future at Colorado before a game vs. Kansas State. He seemingly confirmed that the signal caller has quit on his team.

Coach Prime’s response supports a narrative that’s been pushed since his initial benching in late September.

Lewis’s sophomore campaign has been filled with drama. Before his first start, it was rumored that he’d reached out to Georgia Tech to gauge interest in a transfer.

Ultimately, he stayed in Boulder with an NIL valuation estimated to be $1 million. There has been no return on investment.

The Buffs are 2-5 and in last place in the Big 12 standings. Lewis has struggled to score points. He’s thrown as many touchdowns as interceptions against Power 4 opponents. He has not seen the field in four weeks.

During a game against Baylor, Lewis was benched and replaced by Isaac Wilson. He refused to play the next week vs. Texas Tech. His family subsequently bashed the program on social media.

Whispers of a holdout followed with the belief that he intends to transfer in the offseason. Deion Sanders appeared to confirm the notion.

Julian Lewis has quit on Colorado.

When asked if the quarterback could work his way back into the lineup, Sanders responded, “That’s on him.”

“I don’t play games with young men and their careers, and hate on folks,” he continued. “If anything, I’m too forgiving.”

Sanders seems open to giving Lewis another opportunity. The quarterback refuses to accept it. His poor body language was a talking point two weeks ago in a loss to Utah. It does not look like he wants to be there.

He was again absent from the QB rotation in last week’s 57-23 loss to Oklahoma State.

Sanders was asked more directly about Lewis’s attitude heading into the next game vs. Kansas State. Is he still fighting for the job? It doesn’t appear so.

At this point, it doesn’t look like Julian Lewis will take another snap at Colorado. I wouldn’t expect him to stay in Boulder for the 2027 season given what’s transpired over the last few months.

It will be the Isaac Wilson show from here on out. The Buffs will look to salvage the season after being ditched by their former starter.
