Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has made a bold statement by proclaiming himself among the greatest running quarterbacks in NFL history, despite only being in his third season in the league.
During an appearance on the All Things Covered podcast, Fields confidently included himself in his personal top five list.
Unhesitant in his response, Fields stated, “I’m definitely in the top five,” when asked to name his choices for the best running quarterbacks of all time.
Although he refrained from providing a specific ranking, he gave his top 5 list of players which included Michael Vick, Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson, and Steve Young.

The young Bears starter has solid reasoning behind his self-assured claim.
In the 2022 season, Fields had a record-breaking performance, becoming only the third quarterback in NFL history to amass over 1,000 rushing yards in a single season.
His remarkable achievement of 1,143 rushing yards fell just 64 yards short of Lamar Jackson’s single-season record for the position, set at 1,206 yards in 2019.
While some may view Justin Fields’ assertion as premature, there is no denying his exceptional talent and potential as a running quarterback.
