Kate Martin and Iowa lost to South Carolina in the the women’s college basketball national championship just one month ago. However, Catilin Clark’s former teammate was decked out in Gamecocks gear from head-to-toe on Saturday.
She looked super uncomfortable…
Martin, who was in attendance at the WNBA Draft to support the greatest scorer of all-time, ended up being drafted in the second round by the Las Vegas Aces. Kelsey Plum recently gave her very high praise and it seems like the 23-year-old guard is going to end up on the final roster! That’s pretty cool.
What is not cool was Martin’s most recent pregame outfit. Especially if you’re a Hawkeyes fan!
Las Vegas played an exhibition game against the Puerto Rican National Team at South Carolina’s home gym, Colonial Life Arena. Kate Martin was hooping.
She knocked down her first triple in the WNBA.
And she followed it up with a clean assist!
Upon arrival, a few of the Aces wore the reigning national champion’s clothing to show support for the program and their teammate A’ja Wilson.

Martin rocked an awesome throwback jumpsuit with the Gamecocks logo on the front and prominently-featured “SC” on the sleeve and the pants. It was so clean.
Her outfit would be even cooler if she had not lost the national championship game to South Carolina on April 7. Barely more than a month has passed since the loss. How can Martin don Gamecocks gear?!
There is no way I would be caught dead wearing the logo of the school that beat me in the national championship! (I am self-aware enough to know the difference is that I didn’t play for a national championship… and don’t play in the WNBA… but…)
Martin was just being a good sport. A’ja Wilson, a Columbia-native and South Carolina alum styled the team for a game in her home gym— on the day her shoe deal was announced, no less. Still, you can’t be doing that unless there was a bet involved. Smh. That hurts!
Based on Martin’s face, she looked uncomfortable in the South Carolina gear. Understandably so!
How could she be caught dead in those clothes when the wound is so fresh?!
