There are a few current or former female athletes that have huge social media followings that don’t necessarily have anything to do with their athletic prowess. Gymnast Olivia Dunne and golfer Paige Spirinac come to mind. And, former Marshall volleyball star Kayla Simmons is joining their ranks.

Kayla Simmons starred at Marshall from 2014-2017 as a setter. She had an incredible 1,112 assists in 2015 as a sophomore that put her among the nation’s top setters. Since then, she has turned to modeling and influencing, and I’d say it’s going well for her.

Kayla Simmons has just shy of 1 million followers on Instagram, and will be eclipsing that mark any day now. That’s a pretty impressive number. Especially since, let’s face it, she wasn’t exactly known for playing volleyball at Marshall and her career came before the peak of Instagram influencing. What kind of content do you get on her instagram page? Posts like this.

Recently, Kayla Simmons took a trip to Japan, and her latest post makes it seem like she was having quite the time in the land of the rising sun.

Wherever she travels next, her 988k followers will surely follow.
