Top Los Angeles Dodgers minor league prospect Kendall George was injured during a recent Tulsa Drillers baseball game avoiding a collision with the team’s bat dog.
While the setback didn’t appear significant, it did spark quite the reaction from the former first-round MLB draft pick. He was visibly frustrated with the canine on the bench.
He was removed from the lineup after being seen limping into the dugout. The moment quickly went viral on social media.
Who is Kendall George?
The outfielder was the 36th pick in the 2023 MLB Draft. The 21-year-old lefty bypassed college after wrapping up his high school career in Texas to pursue his professional dream.
In 2023, he played in both the Rookie League and Single A where he combined to hit .370 and steal 17 bases in 28 games.
The following year, George hit .279 in Single A before being promoted in 2025. With the Great Lakes Loons, the speedster stole 100 bases in 111 games while batting .295. That success has continued into the Double A level with the Tulsa Drillers.
Through 43 games, George is hitting .333 while going 26 for 29 on stolen base attempts. He leads the team in runs scored, hits, and at-bats while hitting at the top of the order.
Currently, George is considered the 13th-best prospect in the Dodgers’ organization. He is the fastest player in minor league baseball and is on pace to potentially make the bigs in 2027.
Part of that timeline involves avoiding setbacks, injuries included. On Monday, a bizarre situation led to an early exit.
George nearly collided with a bat dog.
Tulsa led the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 13-6 in the bottom of the second inning. The Drillers put up seven runs in each of the first two at-bats. Kendall George scored the final run of the second frame.
After reaching on an error in his third plate appearance and advancing over to second base, he’d be batted in by teammate Josue De Paula.
George scored easily on the RBI single. As he returned to the dugout, though, he nearly collided with the team bat dog as it bolted towards home plate to retrieve De Paula’s club. The outfielder leapt up to avoid the canine and landed awkwardly.
Kendall George appeared to limp into the dugout after scoring from second on a Josue De Paula single. It looked like he pulled up lame after trying to get out of the way of a dog retrieving a bat. He's now out of the game. I wish I was making this up.

George angrily limped into the clubhouse. He would not return to the game.
No update has been provided from the team. A lower body injury would be major given his reliance on his legs. Hopefully, the setback in not severe.
