Five-star tight end Kendre Harrison is one of the most highly sought after players in the 2025 recruiting class. Unfortunately for most suitors, he’s shut his recruitment down.
Harrison made his commitment to the Oregon Ducks in November of last year. Still, he spoke to other schools about his college future in the months that followed. North Carolina was one of those schools.

Harrison is the top tight end prospect in high school football. He is a Top 20 player regardless of position according to On3 Sports.
Working in North Carolina’s favor was the fact that Harrison plays just down the road at Reidsville High, about an hour outside of Chapel Hill. The hometown Tar Heels were a logical destination.
Throw in the fact that Harrison hopes to play basketball at the next level, too, and it seemed a possible match made in heaven. That won’t be the case.
Kendre Harrison spurned North Carolina with his initial commitment. He commented on the Tar Heels’ subsequent hiring of Bill Belichick, only to reiterate that he’s locked in with the Ducks. A few months later, he broke contact with any and all potential suitors.

Since shutting down his recruitment in March, not much drama has unfolded. That is until April Fools’ Day, when Harrison decided to dance on the Tar Heels’ grave with another rejection.
The five-star pass catcher teased a recruiting flip on his Instagram story. He posted a photo in a UNC uniform alongside a caption that read, “I’m coming home.”

Harrison then followed with a post that pulled the rug out from under Bill Belichick and Co. “Nah, lemme chill,” he wrote. “Sco Ducks 4L baby.”

The April Fools’ Day joke might’ve given his Oregon following a brief scare. The unnecessary jab likely enraged North Carolina fans, too.
Kendre Harrison is not going anywhere. His pledge to the Ducks remains firm. It didn’t stop him from riling up the locals with a little online humor.
