Kendrick Perkins Makes Shocking Claim About The One Team The Golden State Warriors Want To Avoid

Former NBA star turned ESPN NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins seems to be loving life in the spotlight.

Perkins turned heads last week after a spirited argument with fellow NBA vet and ESPN analyst JJ Redick over the NBA MVP race.

But it was a more lighthearted take about the Golden State Warriors that kept Perkins in the news as the week went on.

“They could flip it on and then they realize the light bill wasn’t paid, because the lights ain’t coming on this year,” Perkins said when asked if the Warriors can simply flip a switch. “And here’s why: for the first time I can say that the Warriors don’t have an identity.”

Perkins isn’t shying away from the take. In fact, he’s doubling down.

When asked whether the Warriors or Los Angeles Lakers had a higher ceiling, Perkins made his thoughts clear.

“I’m looking at them right now and, no, they’re not a championship team,” he said. “And I’ma say this right now. They better stay the hell away from the Sacramento Kings. Because no matter how young that King(s) group is, no matter how unexperienced they (be) as far as coming down to the postseason, they have old souls. And (coach) Mike Brown is doing a hell of a job right now.”

The Kings, of course, have not made the NBA playoffs since 2006. Their 17-year drought is the longest in the NBA. But Sacramento currently sits at 40-26 and in second place in the Western Conference.

Point guard De’Aaron Fox and big man Domantas Sabonis have developed into stars and the vibes in Sacramento are as good as anywhere in the NBA.

But even despite that, it’s hard to imagine the Warriors’ dynasty ending at the hands of an organization that has been so poorly run for so long.

If it does, it would be a monumental surprise.
