College Football’s Worst Team Hasn’t Led A Game All Year But Is Still Outscoring Florida State

The Kent State football team has been the NCAA’s worst on the field in 2024. The Flashes fell to 0-9 following a 41-0 loss to MAC rival Ohio on Wednesday.

An unfortunate trend continued in that blowout loss which seems almost too outlandish to believe. Kent State has yet to lead in a game this season!

Not one second of the ’24 campaign have the Flashes found themselves up on the scoreboard. In all nine matchups, they’ve been either tied or losing – and mainly the latter!

Kent State ranks dead last in defense, allowing more than 46 points a game. The offense isn’t much better at just 17 points a contest.

This latest loss represented the third time the Flashes have been shut out this season as they were also held scoreless against Tennessee (71-0) and Penn State (56-0) earlier in the year.

That said, there’s a bright spot! They’ve been able to outperform one of college football’s historic powers in offensive output thus far.

Kent State is outscoring Florida State.

The Flashes have scored 136 points through nine games. The ‘Noles are at 130 points in the same amount of action. FSU ranks 132nd out of 133 FBS teams at 14.4 ppg and is tied for last in touchdowns.

The Florida State offense has been downright unwatchable.

Even in a win over Cal, the Seminoles mustered just 14 points. They’ve yet to eclipse the 16-point mark on American soil after losing 24-21 to Georgia Tech in Ireland during the season opener.

DJ Uiagalelei struggled after transferring into the program this offseason. He’s since been unseated while dealing with injury, but the results have been largely the same.

The difference in the two situations for Kent State and Florida State? One was expected!

The Flashes went 1-11 last year in new coach Kenni Burns’ debut season. The Seminoles went 13-1.

Florida State will have a chance to move past Kent State following the team’s goose egg against Ohio. The task will be a tall one, though, with a visit to No. 10 Notre Dame up next.
