James Harden has been a Philadelphia 76er for a month now, his time as a Brooklyn Net is ancient history in the fast-paced sports world. However, with the Nets and Sixers set to do battle on Thursday for the first time since Harden was dealt to Philly, the trade is a major topic of conversation this week.

Essentially everyone in the NBA world has given their reaction and opinion about the short-lived Harden stint in Brooklyn, and why he wanted out so badly. Kevin Durant recently gave his honest opinion about why things went down the way they did with Harden, and his statement was interesting.

Following the Nets’ win over the Hornets on Tuesday, Durant was asked if he could’ve done anything to influence Harden to stay. While he simply brushed off the question saying “I don’t know,” he went into detail about why he thinks he no longer wanted to be in Brooklyn.

“I don’t know,” Durant said, according to ESPN. “When you look at it from his perspective, and you look up and Ky’s not playing and then I’m injured, he hasn’t won a championship before so he’s looking at — he’s 32 years old, I guess, he’s looking at himself, wanting to make a decision to get on a team that can kind of get into that contending, being one of the last teams standing.

“So if you look at it from his perspective, you could say it is what it is. You can’t really control how somebody feels when they’re thinking like that.”

KD Doesn’t Seem To Be Missing Harden

Durant’s comments are eye-opening given the fact that Harden was the one who pushed to get to Brooklyn to play with Kyrie Irving and Durant in the first place.

Obviously, something changed for Harden over the course of a rather short stint in Brooklyn.

Durant doesn’t seem to worked up over the fact Harden ditched him and the Nets, that’s for sure. Harden was looking out for himself, which is no surprise as Philadelphia is his third franchise since the 2020-21 season.
