When you get to talking about the greatest UFC fighter of all-time, a lot of names begun to get thrown around.

But usually, the discussion includes the same cast of characters in various different orders.

You’ll hear Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jon Jones, Henry Cejudo and a handful of others.

But it’s really hard to definitively same one way or another that a certain guy is the GOAT.

One man who has perhaps the best is Nurmagomedov. The Russian lightweight retired with a perfect 29-0 record, including a 13-0 record in the UFC. He won the UFC lightweight title from Al Iaquinta in 2018 and defended it three times before hanging up the gloves.

Nurmagomedov is one of only a few oUFC fighters to retire undefeated and the only one with a remotely notable resume. He went into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2022 and his place in UFC history is unquestionable.

But is Numagomedov the GOAT?

Well, not if you ask him.

Nurmagomedov ranks UFC heavyweight champ Jon Jones at No. 1 next to UFC and Pride legend Fedor Emelianenko. He then continues with St. Pierre, Silva, Demetrious Johnson, Cejudo and a host of others.

His ranking of Jones at No. 1 is in line with that of UFC commentator Joe Rogan, who said the same just weeks prior. Interestingly enough, Nurmagomedov did not place himself on the list.

Whether he truly believes that to be the case or is just being modest is up for debate. But fans had plenty to say about his list.

“Horrendous list. Best thing is that Khabib isn’t in it though,” Twitter used @FreyaRockholdr said.

“This is the worst list I’ve seen,” @Kiiingbravo said.

Is this your Goat? Hahahahah pathetic,” someone else asked.

The UFC GOAT debate will always be contentious. But Nurmagomedov’s opinion should hold a fair bit of weight.
