Earlier this week, Justin Jefferson was asked to share his thoughts on the top 5 players in the NFL at quarterback.

When Jefferson shared his list, it included Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, and Josh Allen.

It didn’t take long for football fans to notice one name missing from his list.

He didn’t name Kirk Cousins.

Jefferson has played alongside Cousins for all 3 of his NFL seasons, putting together one of most impressive starts to a career the NFL has ever seen.

That wasn’t enough to get Cousins on his list.

Yesterday, Cousins was asked about it during an appearance on KFAN-AM radio in Minnesota and appeared to take the ranking pretty well.

“I didn’t even see it,” Cousins said. “This is the first time hearing about it.”

“As a competitor, you’d always want (to be top five). People have to be honest and share what they think and I’m not going to tell somebody what they need to think. Hopefully in 2024, I’ll be on his list. We’ll see what we can do this year.”

It looks like Cousins is taking this pretty well and he shouldn’t have too tough of a time grappling with Jefferson’s opinion because Jefferson is right.

Kirk Cousins is a solid NFL quarterback who is coming off of one of the best seasons of his career. However, he just doesn’t have the big wins to matchup against the guys on that list.

If Jefferson had left him off the top 10 list, then Cousins would likely have a bit more to be upset about because he’d actually have a case after topping 4000 yards 7 times in the last 8 years.

However Kirk Cousins actually feels about this list, at least Jefferson gave a better answer than saying something like “I’m going from one Hall of Famer to another” when going from playing with Aaron Rodgers to being thrown to by Derek Carr.
