There are great hockey highlights and there are GREAT HOCKEY HIGHLIGHTS that are so good they need to be seen by everyone even if they’re not hockey fans. This lacrosse-style hockey goal from a 10-year-old in Ohio falls into that latter category. This could quite possibly be the best youth hockey goal ever scored on the ice.

The 1st Place Florida Panthers were playing the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night in Ohio. Anyone who bet the over in that game must’ve been stoked as there were 6 goals in the first period and the Panthers ended up winning the game 8-4 (not great for the home team fans).

Despite 12 goals being scored in regulation (only 1 in the 3rd period) the best goal was easily the one scored during intermission from 10-year-old Cooper Dennie. He’d been practicing his lacrosse-style goal after being inspired by YouTubers like Pavel Barber and Andrew “Nasher” Telfer. And when Coooper got his chance he made the most of it and completely blew away the stadium. Here’s the video with some quotes and more details below.

10-Year-Old’s Lacrosse-Style Hockey Goal Is The Best Ever

Here’s Cooper practicing this goal a month ago in preparation for January 31st’s big moment during the Columbus Blue Jackets intermission:

Jeff Svoboda, the Columbus Blue Jackets beat writer for the NHL, pulled some amazing quotes bout this goal that has taken hockey by storm. Cooper’s dad Brian said he asked him “Cooper, are you nervous?” to which Cooper nonchalantly responded with ice in his veins “No, I’m gonna nail it.”

Cooper told BlueJackets.com he “had confidence” and “definitely thought he could” do it but said there were still some doubts because everyone doubts themselves. Due to the nature of the goal, he didn’t actually get a good look at it going into the net. He says he thought it “just dribbled across the line, but then I was like, ‘Oh, it’s in!’ Then I turned to the boards and I saw all these guys (in the stands) and they’re like, ‘Oh my God.’ They were yelling and screaming. I saw somebody spill their beer. It was a lot of fun.”

The 10-year-old has actually been planning this goal since last Fall when he found out they’d be participating in a shootout challenge. Straight forward from there, he set out practicing his lacrosse-style goal during practices at The Battery Hockey Academy and Columbus Amateur Hockey Association.

Cooper’s dad Brian was encouraging but he also wanted him to score a goal during the challenge. He told Cooper “dude, stop wasting your time” but the young fella stuck with it and has now been featured on the SportsCenter top 10 after his stunning goal.

Do yourself a favor and watch that lacrosse-style hockey goal again and again and again. It’s incredible.

Columbus Blue Jackets fans want the young man on their team already…

I look forward to seeing this goal again on the SportsCenter Top 10 next December when they do their Best of the Year roundup.
