Lane Kiffin Trolls Eli Drinkwitz Over Cringey Recruiting Antics

Lane Kiffin took aim at a rival SEC head coach on Wednesday for some highly questionable antics. It’s far from the first time he’s targeted a league foe, and in typical Kif fashion, he did so with a sense of humor.

The Ole Miss head coach has been vocal on a number of topics involving conference leaders over the years, some of which include NIL, the transfer portal, and shady recruiting practices.

He’s called out Jimbo Fisher for buying a roster at Texas A&M only to be fired a few years later. He’s shaken his head at former OM and current Auburn coach Hugh Freeze for sending some embarrassing DMs to fans regarding his prior scandal.

Heck, he’s even been seen taking an unprovoked shot at his new archrival’s weight! He’s always an entertaining follow!

This jab was a bit more light-hearted, though it continued his mockery of familiar face while also bringing in a new target of criticism. Two birds with one stone!

Let’s rewind.

In 2021, Brian Kelly was hired to replace Ed Orgeron at LSU. Soon thereafter, some truly cringeworthy recruiting videos were posted online as the former Notre Dame leader attempted to woo talented prospects.

Lane Kiffin immediately took the opportunity to troll his new league partner, hilariously mocking Kelly’s attempts to relate to the younger generation.

The clips are just painful to watch, but like a trainwreck, you can’t look away. Most had the same thought upon seeing them go viral: “It doesn’t get worse than that.”

Maybe it does…

Fast forward to the 2024 offseason, and coaches are still implementing these cringey practices – case in point, Eli Drinkwitz.

The Mizzou head coach was seen “rocking out,” guitar in hand, with a prospective recruit in a video now circulating social media. Again, Kiffin felt it an opportune moment to troll.
