LeBron Comes Back Home In Emotional Beats By Dre Commercial

You may not have heard, but LeBron James went back home to Akron, Ohio when he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer. Beats by Dre is utilizing the coming home storyline in this powerful and dramatic commercial. The ad is called “Re-Established 2014” because LeBron has a tattoo that says “Akron. Est. 1984.”

“Akron means everything man, it’s the birthplace, it’s what raised me man. Honestly I wouldn’t be who I am today without this city. I mean everything to this city and the city means everything to me, so I always stand by it.”

The commercial is nostalgic and focuses on the city of Akron including his old high school, St. Vincent St. Mary. In the ad for Beats by Dre’s new Powerbeats2 Wireless Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” provides a haunting soundtrack. At the end of the commercial there are links to get in-depth commentary by LeBron and his mom Gloria of the sentimental locations from his childhood.
