LeBron James is going viral after deleting a tweet sent in April of last year. He’s now become a target for social media trolls online.

The tweet was sent back during the 2022 NBA postseason, one in which the Lakers were sitting at home. After being favored to win the title last year, Los Angeles missed out on the playoffs completely.

James then made a vow to Lakers Nation that he’d never miss the postseason again. But after the team’s early struggles, he’s now backing off that promise.

LA is off to a 13-20 start, having lost four consecutive games. At the moment, they find themselves on the outside looking in in regard to the playoff picture, and their star player apparently doesn’t have the confidence that they’ll turn things around.

LeBron deleted the now viral tweet, but as is the case with the internet, nothing ever truly disappears.

James originally posted the message while watching other NBA teams enjoy success after the regular season. It reads, “I can/WILL not miss the postseason again for my career. This s— HURT! Ok, back to watching these games.”

Social media accounts caught wind of LeBron’s deleting of the tweet, and they’ve now blasted it across Twitter.

Many around the NBA are reacting to the viral incident, posting their best responses online.

One person wrote, “LeBron deleted the tweet about never missing the playoffs again, I’m crying.” Another fan said, “LeBron just deleted an 8-month-old tweet.”

This follower hilariously commented, “Nah fam, this is the funniest tweet of the year.”

It’s been a tough few seasons since James and the Lakers won the NBA championship in 2020. Since taking home that title, Los Angeles is just 88-99. The playoffs don’t seem to be in the cards at the moment as the team sits in 13th place (out of 15) in the Western Conference standings.
