LeBron James will have to watch Steph Curry get his fourth ring in next year’s NBA opener when the Lakers play the Warriors.

NBA insider Shams Charania announced the news on Saturday, noting that the West Coast showdown will be the first game of the year this coming October.

The matchup will be played in the Chase Center after the Warriors claimed their fourth title in the last eight seasons. The series win over the Celtics in the Finals allowed Curry to tie James’s career ring count.

Steph has won each of his rings with Golden State while LeBron has landed titles in Miami, Cleveland, and Los Angeles.

James teamed up with Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis in LA in hopes of winning another title in 2021-22. Unfortunately, injuries and inconsistent play led to the Lakers not only falling short of a championship but missing the playoffs altogether.

While it’s no surprise to see the league schedule the first game of the year between a pair of popular teams, many fans around the NBA found it a bit comical hearing that LeBron will have to watch the Warriors receive their rings.
