The Liberty football team will soon take the field for a Tuesday night matchup against Middle Tennessee State. To hype up that conference showdown, the Flames dropped a uniform reveal to show fans what the team will wear on the field.

That promo quickly backfired after Liberty attempted to flex with a Buick in a gas station parking lot. The reaction from college football followers is fantastic.

“All gas, no brakes,” the caption read.

The uniforms definitely look clean with a slick red top and the classic white bottoms. The rest of the photoshoot? Well, we’ll let the fan response tell the story.

“Why a Buick?? If by ‘all gas,’ you mean take a year to accelerate to speed, then sure I guess.”

“Poverty school got an old Buick for a hype shoot.”

“Nothing says, ‘This is tough,’ like sitting on a Buick.”

“Is Liberty really out here doing a photo shoot at a Sheetz gas station with a Buick LeSabre?”

Buick certainly wouldn’t be the top choice for displaying speed. They would’ve been better taking a page out of the Florida International playbook, where the Panthers recently organized a pregame car show that included a custom FIU Lamborghini.

Liberty will show off the uniforms tonight in that MTSU matchup as they look to stay atop the Conference USA standings. At 6-0, the Flames find themselves undefeated and just outside the Top 25.

Middle Tennessee, meanwhile, will look to pull the upset as they currently sit at 2-5 on the year.

Kickoff for the midweek battle is set for 7 PM ET. We’ll see if Liberty’s offense uses a little more gas than the Buick photoshoot might suggest.
