Targeting is one of the most controversial rules in college football as it allows refs to eject players if they forcibly hit their opponent with the crown of their helmet or if they hit their opponent in the head/neck area.
There was no controversy during Saturday’s game between Liberty and Army when Liberty’s punter Aidan Alves came flying in head first like a mad man when attempting to make a tackle.
This is most definitely targeting. And it’s a punter committing it. pic.twitter.com/hu0PixI8O0

Alves was promptly ejected for the failed tackling attempt and got instantly roasted by Pat McAfee and the rest of the Internet.

That’s our guy. He did his best to stop the returner.
Tackling practice will be a must moving forward. #goflames

This is like Remember the Titans when the QB (Sunshine) hurt the star defensive lineman and the coach asked the ref for a flag and he laughed at him saying “Unnecessary roughness, in the QB?”
