No college football coach in the country is as notable for his use of social media as first-year LSU Tigers coach Lane Kiffin, even if it’s often to his own detriment.
Kiffin has routinely used his X account to take not-so-subtle pot shots at opponents and often lands himself in hot water in the process.
Back in April, he made a post vowing to stay more private going forward, although he immediately broke that vow. Slowly but surely, however, he appears to be changing his ways.
Kiffin hasn’t posted on X in over a month, and it turns out there’s a good reason for that!
Lane Kiffin says that his son bet him that he couldn’t get off, and stay off, social media for a certain time.

Lane Kiffin Made A Bet With His Son That He Could Stay Off Social Media
Kiffin’s son, Knox, is a three-star quarterback recruit in the class of 2028 according to 247Sports, and in addition to being a great athlete, it appears he has a good head on his shoulders as well/
“Really, it just started with Knox, my son, was sitting there and he’s like, ‘You’re on social media; I bet you couldn’t get off,'” Kiffin said Thursday during his appearance at SEC Media Days. “If you follow me, if you tell me I can’t do something, that’s really a good way to get me to do it.
“So I just got off of everything. Got off of it. Don’t even have the apps, so it’s not even like I read it either… I just wanted to show him I could do it. It’s been really interesting as I look back over my life and my journey; a lot of great things have come when I’ve subtracted things out of my life, and I’ve eliminated them.”
Who knows whether leaving social media will actually prove beneficial for Kiffin. But one thing is certain: it’ll be one less thing he has to answer questions about moving forward.
