No environment in college football is as intimidating as Death Valley in Baton Rouge, home of the LSU Tigers. 102,000 rowdy Louisianimals joining together in voice after a few libations at the Parade Grounds creates a hostile environment that makes it really hard for a visiting team to find success.

In fact, things got so loud on Saturday night against Auburn, that even the home side was struggling to hear itself. Head coach Brian Kelly even said that his offense had to switch to a silent count.

It was interesting. We never think that verbal is going to be an issue – verbal cadence at home. But it was even loud at home, and we had to switch to non-verbal (signals) […]

There was such a crowd here tonight that we were in a verbal cadence where our center and our offensive line couldn’t hear us. And that’s unusual, so we picked up a couple of penalties there.

If LSU fans were that loud when their own team had the ball, one can only imagine how loud they were when the visiting Tigers tried to drive down the field. Especially considering that Hugh Freeze was making his first trip back to south Louisiana since his embarrassing escort-based ouster at Ole Miss in 2016.

One fan even ran onto the field during the game and got rocked with a vicious slobberknocker hit laid by the security guard. Needless to say, the Bayou Bengals were just a little bit juiced up.

LSU fans used Weezy for ‘STTDB.’

The most famous LSU chant, like it or not, is “SUCK THAT TIGER D—K, BIT—!”

Fan used to chant along to the Golden Band From Tigerland’s version Cameo’s and Dem Franchize Boyz’s ‘Talkin’ Out Da Side of Ya Neck,’ but it was banned in 2010 because of the vulgar “lyrics.”

So they had to call an audible. Today, the fans chant along to whatever song makes the most sense.

Lil Wayne’s ‘Right Above It’ has been the melody of choice in recent years. Tigers fans, especially the student section, could have been heard all of the way back in Auburn, Alabama on Saturday.

LSU tried to eliminate ‘STTDB’ from its repertoire. The efforts failed, so the school might as well just LET THE BAND PLAY NECK!
