The New England Patriots have indeed engaged in trade discussions regarding their quarterback, Mac Jones.

During a recent appearance on NBC Sports Boston, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer has confirmed that Jones’ name had come up in trade talks with multiple teams during the 2023 offseason.

This news comes on the heels of a recent report on Tuesday that head coach Bill Belichick had actively shopped Jones to several NFL teams.

While the Patriots have yet to officially comment on these rumors, Breer noted that the team’s reluctance to part ways with Jones likely stems from the fact that they wouldn’t receive optimal value in return for him, saying: “The issue now is that they wouldn’t get great value for him.”

Jones, who was selected by the Patriots in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and had a solid rookie campaign, but turned in a down second year in 2022 after some bad coaching decisions by Belichick.

Despite his solid performance as a rookie, it appears that the Patriots are exploring all options as they look to build upon their success in the upcoming season. With the NFL Draft just weeks away, it remains to be seen whether the team will ultimately decide to trade Jones or hold onto him for the long term.

This story is still developing, and we will continue to monitor any updates or statements from the Patriots organization regarding the situation if they address the situation.
