The San Diego Padres were able to upset the New York Mets in the opening week of the MLB playoffs. New York is catching some flack though, as manager Buck Showalter went out of his way to have Joe Musgrove checked for “sticky stuff.” After San Diego’s win, Manny Machado hilariously trolled Showalter.

It was a sight to see as the umpire was literally rubbing Musgrove’s ears mid-game. The Padres pitcher was dominating on the mound in their Game 3 win. So much so, that Buck Showalter had the umps check Joe Musgrove for “sticky stuff.” It was an odd decision and not many were happy with it. According to Sports TV News & Updates, the Mets broadcast crew criticized Showalter harshly.

However, Manny Machado brought the laughs during the Padres’ celebration. Before pouring champagne all over his teammates, Machado made sure to tell Musgrove, “Hey Joe… I got that sticky stuff right here,” per The Athletic.

San Diego went on to celebrate in the locker room as they now prepare to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in a tough series. However, it’s not looking great for the Mets, as the manager hasn’t received much praise for his decision to check Joe Musgrove. Regardless, the Padres don’t seem to care, as they’re celebrating with plenty of “sticky stuff” on their way to LA, as Manny Machado would put it.

Look for this organization to possibly make some noise against the Dodgers. Although it’s a difficult matchup, Manny Machado and his teammates are going to put up a fight against the National League’s number-one seed.
