Team Brazil squared off against Team Germany in World Baseball Classic action on Monday afternoon. Those that tuned in felt so old upon seeing a pair of players in the opposing lineups.

Manny Ramirez’s son, Lucas, was catalyst in his squad’s 9-7 victory. Meanwhile, the son of Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, Jaden, picked up the loss on the mound.

Lucas Ramirez is the youngest of three siblings. He’s a known commodity in baseball circles. Some compared him to MLB slugger Juan Soto while watching him compete at the high school level. The swing is identical!

Ramirez initially committed to the University of Tennessee before being selected in the 17th round of the MLB Draft by the Angels. He ultimately decided to forego college ball and begin his professional career.

The lefty has taken a break from minor league camp to represent Team Brazil in the World Baseball Classic. On Monday, he helped his team land a win in the 2025 qualifiers.

Ramirez went 2-for-5 at the dish while scoring two runs and knocking in a teammate. One of those two hits was a single off of Jaden Agassi.

Agassi played three seasons at USC. He compiled a 5-4 record with the Trojans and started nine games as a junior. He’s since moved onto the MLB Draft League where he recorded a 2.96 ERA last summer.

The righty pumps a fastball in the mid-90s which helped him rack up 28 Ks in 27.1 innings during his most recent season.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have his best stuff on Monday. Agassi allowed four runs on three hits and a pair of walks to pick up his loss in his World Baseball Classic debut. He failed to get out of the fourth frame.

Both players come from sports royalty. Many remember watching their parent perform at the highest level during their respective playing days. Now, the next generation is carrying on the family name. They’re making viewers feel very old in the process!
