35-year-old former NFL QB and long-time bachelor Matt Leinart got married to his actress girlfriend Josie Loren, 31, over Memorial Day Weekend. I know, I didn’t see that coming either. If ever I thought a former football player was a confirmed bachelor it was Matt Leinart.

Speaking of bachelors, am I crazy or are you as surprised as I am that Matt Leinart never ended up appearing on The Bachelor? I actually had to double-check, since I don’t actually watch the show, but nope, he never did it. Not that he wasn’t asked. Back in 2016 he revealed to Fox Sports Radio that he had been asked twice.

On the plus side, at least the show got his doppelganger.

But I digress. Back to the original point here and that would be the fact that Matt Leinart and Josie Loren got married.

Loren is best known for her roles on TV shows like Make It or Break It and The Mentalist. While Leinart, according to Us Weekly, who reported on the nuptials, is a “former Buffalo Bills player.”

In actuality, Leinart and Thad Lewis competed for the Bills’ fourth-string quarterback job in 2013 behind undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel. Lewis won the competition, and Leinart was released by the team, ending his NFL career.

And what a career it was. In three seasons at USC, Leinart threw for 10,693 yards, 99 touchdowns, 23 interceptions, and won the Heisman Trophy. In six seasons with the Cardinals, Texans and Raiders in the NFL, Leinart threw for 4,065 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions.

But again, I digress. Back to the wedding.

According to UPI

Leinart and Loren tied the knot Saturday at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C. The ceremony was at the Basilica of St. Lawrence and performed by the Rev. Manny Alvarez from the Immaculate Conception Church in Miami.

Several celebrities attended the event, including former 98 Degrees frontman Nick Lachey, who performed Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” at the reception.

Lachey’s wife, Vanessa (Minnillo) Lachey, also attended the ceremony.

Leinart now works as a college football analyst for Fox Sports, is a real estate agent in California, and runs a flag football league in Irvine.

Congratulations to the happy couple.
