The New York Mets found themselves in the playoffs this season with aspirations of winning the 2022 MLB World Series. However, those hopes came crashing down after the team lost to the San Diego Padres in the first round of the postseason. Now, superstar pitcher Max Sherzer shares his reaction to the brutal loss.

According to the Athletic, the Mets entered the MLB playoffs with the highest payroll in the league ($282.7 million). There were high hopes for New York to finally make a run for the World Series. However, their loss to the Padres in the Wild Card round prevented history from being made. Max Scherzer shared a brutally honest reaction after his team was bounced out of the postseason.

Every die-hard Mets fan will have to agree with that statement. New York didn’t quite look like themselves in this series. Especially in Game 1 where Max Scherzer was lit up by the Padres. This organization has some serious questions to answer this offseason. What’s the point of spending all of that money on the roster just to fall short on the opening weekend of the playoffs?

We’ll see how it all plays out. Mets fans aren’t too happy with Max Scherzer at all after his abysmal performance in Game 1. Look for New York to have another aggressive offseason with the hopes the front office can generate a more competitive roster. If they can do that, then perhaps this franchise can play better next year.
