When Tom Brady announced on Wednesday that he would be officially retiring from the NFL (again), it seemed like every human being on the planet congratulated him on an amazing career.

Fellow retiree JJ Watt probably had the best comment to Brady about retiring, but he was far from alone in wishing him well.

Everyone from Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson to Serena Williams and Michael Phelps had something nice to say.

Even his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen sent him a nice (yet somewhat questionable) message.

Pretty much the only person of any prominence who didn’t wish the best for Tom Brady is talk show host Megyn Kelly.

On Wednesday, Megyn Kelly had a couple of guests on her show to talk about Tom Brady’s retirement and what it means for Gisele Bundchen.

After playing TB12’s retirement message, in which he ended by saying that he “wouldn’t change a thing,” Kelly laid into the future Hall of Famer.

“You wouldn’t?” Kelly asked. “You wouldn’t change the part at the end where you lost your wife of 13 years because you wouldn’t retire? A thing that you decided to do 365 days later.

“I mean, honestly, Tom Brady seems like a rather sweet guy,” Kelly continued. “I don’t know if he’s evil-hearted. He’s amazing as a football player, but the collapse of your marriage over one extra year of football seems like something one should regret.

“If that really was the reason, he lasted one more year. For one year, he lost his spouse. Where’s the self-sacrifice? Where’s the mature decision to say, ‘I will table my one year to sacrifice, for you, my spouse; to sacrifice for the sake of my marriage and for the sake of my children to have their family remain together’?”

At another point, Megyn Kelly said, “I don’t buy that this is what led to the end of their marriage, that he wanted to continue playing football and she said ‘peace out, I’ve sacrificed enough in my career,’ but it is the only thing we’ve gotten from them directly on why the marriage collapsed.”

So… if playing an extra year wasn’t what cost him his marriage why is she berating him? Sorry, back to the show…

Kelly then flipped the script back, adding, “If that really was the reason, he lasted one more year. For one year, he lost his spouse. Where’s the self-sacrifice? Where’s the mature decision to say, ‘I will table my one year to sacrifice, for you, my spouse, to sacrifice for the sake of my marriage, and for the sake of my children to have their family remain together?'”

So it was him playing another year that killed his marriage? This is all so confusing.

The ladies then went on to analyze the topic to death, even bringing up Brett Favre at one point.

See if you can make heads or tails out of the conversation below…

Several NFL fans couldn’t.
