The Miami Dolphins are going all-in.

After years of mediocrity, the Dolphins and first-year head coach Mike McDaniel currently sit at 5-3 and in an AFC Wild Card spot. Beyond that, Miami is 5-0 when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa starts and finishes a game. They’re 0-3 in games where Tagovailoa has either sat or come out due to injury.

Now it appears Dolphins GM Chris Grier is putting all his cards on the table.

Miami Dolphins Makes Blockbuster Move To Acquire DE Bradley Chubb From Broncos

The Dolphins boast one of the best offenses in the league when Tagovailoa is playing. But the Dolphins defense hasn’t been quite as impressive. Miami ranks 22nd in the league with 24.0 points per game allowed. A large reason for those struggles is Miami’s struggling pass rush. The Dolphins also rank just 22nd in the league with 15 sacks through eight games. That’s less than half of the 33 sacks racked up by the league-leading Dallas Cowboys.

Grier addressed that issue in a major way on Tuesday.

Miami acquired Pro Bowl defensive end Bradley Chubb from the Denver Broncos in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, a fourth-round pick in 2024 and running back Chase Edmonds. The Dolphins also received a fifth-round pick in 2025.

Chubb, whom the Broncos selected with the fifth pick in the 2018 draft, already has 5.5 sacks this season in eight games. He not only addresses Miami’s struggling pass rush, but specifically the team’s inability to get pressure without blitzing.

The trade between the Dolphins and Broncos is just the latest on what has been a whirlwind NFL Trade Deadline day. The day began with the Detroit Lions trading tight end T.J. Hockenson to the Minnesota Vikings and continued with the Chicago Bears acquiring wideout Chase Claypool from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With an hour yet remaining until the deadline, we could still be in for even more landscape-changing moves.
