Mike Gundy’s favorite flavor of Diet Coke is whiskey. He drank some of his favorite Diet Coke after the final Bedlam college football rivalry game on Saturday night — just like he does every other week, win or lose.

The 56-year-old head coach of Oklahoma State goes home, kicks off his shoes, and watches other teams play on television. Gundy takes notes on a Big Chief tablet/notebook with a Crayon.

He also told the media that he also enjoys drinking Diet Coke while doing so.

When asked to name his favorite flavor of soda, his answer was: “Well, I love whiskey.”

That is true based on Gundy’s previous comments. Win or lose, whiskey is the drink of choice.

It was well deserved on Saturday. The Cowboys beat the Sooners for the second time in three years and 20th time in school history. They trail in the all-time series record by 71, but they won the final one.

For the indefinite future, Oklahoma State University has bragging rights over the University of Oklahoma. When the latter leaves the Big 12 for the SEC next season, Bedlam will be dead.

Not only did the flagship kill the rivalry, it went out on an extremely sour note.

Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ played over the loudspeaker as fans stormed onto the field and tore down the goalposts. The vibes were high for the home team. Not so much for the visitors.

Gundy has his team at 7-2 after a rough start to the year. They have games against UCF, Houston and BYU next. All three are winnable.

Even two out of three and going 9-3 would still be a fantastic year. Especially with a loss to (a very good) South Alabama.

That is all for next week. For now, Gundy will grab his crayon and a glass of Diet Coke.”
